Halloween Treat? (The Verse Version)

(This is the "poetry" version of the blog I've written over on my sister page, Soprano Notes.)

The plan had been to call in sick today 

and just stay home and chill.

The sick part came true...

Maybe this is what 54 feels like.  

It's my first time being this age, you know.

So, what am I going to do today 

to celebrate my natal day?  

I'm celebrating not having to wake up 

at 4:30 in order to get to work on time.

I'm celebrating not having to BE at work today.
 

I plan to buy me some soup,

and maybe another bottle or two of perfume.

At the very least, 

I'm going to get some more sleep

So, happy birthday to me!
