She has lived her entire life
in fear...
of being hurt,
of being found out,
of being damned,
of losing,
of being rejected.
She has clothed herself
in invulnerability --
or tried to --
to avoid the pain
of a messy existence
where she is passionate
and imperfect.

The sad truth is that we have no invulnerable clothes which to wear ... how else are we to experience life if we are not open to it?

Thought provoking write! I think some life experiences make us fearful..loss of a loved one, or the chilling sound of your own heart tearing.. strengthens the instinct for self preservation. But yeah, full experience of life means facing the fear, taking the risks.
